330 Himmarshee St. Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312 | Fort Lauderdale |

Location Description:

A mix of high-end eatery and neighborhood bar, this Himmarshee St. restaurant is the latest outpost of a boutique chain of restaurant. Opened in Tampa six years back, the concept came about when founder James DeVito was looking for a place to go with his wife on nights away from their young kids. Frustrated with just sports bars and stuffy steakhouses, he came up with a middle ground, Taps. It’s comprised of three sections; a bar on one side, an outdoor lounge, and a slightly formal dining room. There’s an extensive beer, wine, and spirits list and the fare incorporates a wide range of styles. With no fryer and an emphasis on “smart cooking,” the tapas-style food is on the healthier side. The Mediterranean-inspired tuna crudo uses baked wontons instead of fried. The Buffalo chicken lettuce wraps are made of grilled chicken. It’s a far cry from the bar and comfort food found on the rest of the strip.
