The Four Rivers Contemporary Thai Kitchen Critics' Pick

1201 N Federal Hwy
Fort Lauderdale, FL 33334
954-616-1152
Website
In a just world, a restaurant like the Four Rivers would flow on for eternity. Owned and operated by an insanely talented Thai couple who formerly worked at Galanga in Wilton Manors, the space is as beautiful as the menu is imaginative -- a subdued room of grays and blacks lit by a spark of red lantern on every table; lotus flowers that seem to float in a wall of glass cylinders; another wall of Buddhist poems depicted in scrolling Thai script. Dishes combine Thai seasonings and sensibility with what’s available locally or grown in the U.S. -- Niman ranch pork, Key West shrimp, local line-caught snapper, beef tenderloin from Wolfe’s Neck farms, and wild venison, each dish enchanted by the magic flavors of kaffir lime, lemongrass, enoki mushrooms, jasmine, pineapple, Asian pears, caramelized shiitakes, holy basil, or fresh English peas and watercress. A dessert of kaffir lime leaf flan paired with thick cardamom crème fraiche and lemongrass sorbet is haunting in the strangeness of its flavors and its pristine execution.
