New York celeb restaurateurs Don Pintabona and Nick Mautone have landed in Lauderdale at the Atlantic Hotel, producing a swank, Sicilian-themed restaurant with stunning views of the ocean and a martini list as deep as the Ionian sea. But Sicilian, Pintabona knows, means the great Mediterranean mix, drawing from African, Greek, French, Roman, and even Germanic cultures. The result is a fun and fabulous menu incorporating lots of fresh seafood. A Moroccan-inspired, tagine-baked grouper pairs our local fish with almond couscous and whitewater clams; grilled Florida Mahi-mahi with spaghetti squash. A thrilling wine list of hard-to-find boutique vintners pairs splendidly with Pintabona’s intelligent and witty menu. This one’s a keeper.
