Sometimes, we can't be at every concert we'd like to attend. It's not always feasible or cost effective, but there's nothing wrong with living vicariously through those in attendance. It seemed like the Beastie Boys had this in mind when, in 2004, they passed out 50 lo-fi camcorders to select fans and let them run amok at Madison Square Garden. What emerged two years later was the ingeniously edited DIY film Awesome, I Fucking Shot That, which helps prove why the Beasties have always been ahead of the pack when it comes to hip-hop and its future. The film runs 89 minutes and features a slew of the white hip-hop trio's greatest hits. Highlights include sexy footage from all angles of the crew performing "Brass Monkey," "Pass the Mic," "Body Movin," and the always danceable "Shake Your Rump." Best of all, Adam Yauch (MCA) directed the film. The movie is slowly becoming a cult classic for lovers of amateur film and Beastie enthusiasts. If you haven't seen it yet, come out and support Cinema Paradiso, and watch it on the big screen.
