As for the sponsor, if you're unfamiliar with Perfect Vodka, the news release promises that it's “a one-of-a-kind alcoholic beverage. It is the only vodka made from the natural waters of the Vosges Mountains and the winner of the prestigious 2014 International Craft Spirits Award gold medal, naming it the smoothest, best tasting spirit in the entire world.” Having never tasted it, I can't tell you if it's as heavenly as they make it sound, but after a quick Google search, I did discover that a handful of Florida stores carry it.
In terms of the quality of the name, Perfect Vodka Amphitheatre is actually pretty smooth. It's by far a better one that some of the God-awful names we've seen in this modern era of venue sponsorships. For example, Washington state has the SleepCountry Amphitheater (as in blackout drunk?). However, our cousins to the north in Tampa take the prize with the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre at the Florida State Fairgrounds because the old title, 1-800-ASK-GARY Amphitheatre, was just too damned short.
Over the next few months, the 19,000-capacity outdoor Perfect Vodka Amphitheatre will have a snazzy lineup of upcoming concerts under its new banner: Dave Matthews Band, Toby Keith, Incubus, Deftones, J. Cole, Big Sean, Tim McGraw, Kelly Clarkson, and Zac Brown Band.
