When Ronnie James Dio was in Black Sabbath in the early '80s, it may have been hard for him to express his inner self. Left to his own devices, though, Dio let his imagination loose in Dungeons and Dragons land. And there it has stayed, from the opening strains of his 1983 solo debut, Holy Diver, until now. It's easy to poke fun at Ronnie, but you can bet that when he sings "Rats and bats and spiders and little things that crawl" on his latest, Master of the Moon, he does so with sincerity. -- Saby Reyes-Kulkarni
