DJ Nova, a.k.a. Nelson Fernandez, is a Venezuelan transplant and pivotal
figure of Miami's underground EDM scene since the early '90s. With a
lifelong commitment to his craft, Nova's DJ career has taken him from
Miami's myriad local clubs and venues to bookings all over the U.S. and
Latin America, including performances at the Detroit Electronic Music
Festival and Miami's Ultra Music Festival.
In the late '90s, Nova hosted
his own weekly show at The Womb internet radio featuring stellar
guest appearances by the likes of Juan Atkins and John Acquaviva, and
as creator/event coordinator for the Miami Meets Detroit WMC event from
1999-2005, Nova showcased and played alongside some of the greatest
techno legends in the world, including Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson,
Matthew Dear and Magda. With no intention of slowing down, Nova
continues to impact our local scene as a prolific DJ/producer and
through Pornograph Events, which will be presenting the
highly-anticipated Derrick May and Francois K "Cosmic Twins" gig on
June 20 at Nocturnal.
DJ Nova will be featured as a guest DJ on
tonight's Weekly Record Check show on Chicago's Just Quality Music
internet radio station (www.justqualitymusic.com) from 10 p.m.-1 a.m. Weekly Record Check broadcasts every Thursday night and features a
