Face to Face

Not even a four-year hiatus, from 2004 to 2008, could put a stop to Southern California punk outfit Face to Face from producing headbang-worthy tuneage. As 24-year veterans of SoCal punk, frontman Trever Keith and his crew will be taking over Culture Room for a night of power chords and killer riffs. Brace yourself for total eardrum explosion.

Upcoming Events

We're all just "another heart in need of rescue, waiting on love's sweet charity." But as long as we've got the big hair and glam metal of Whitesnake, we know everything will be all right.

"The music I make," Fort Lauderdale musician Dwight Pendelton AKA Washa told New Times earlier this year, "is what I believe needs to be portrayed in art. The beauty of life can be equally surreal and unappreciated. I try to write songs that delve deeper than the surface level that's so common to our culture." Experience the "dreamy and ethereal soundscapes" of Washa as the "baroque pop" artist kicks off his East Coast Summer Tour at Radio-Active.

In-store Tour Kick Off with Band Felix and Jason Grillo. Friday, August 7, 6 p.m. Radio-Active Records, 845 N. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale; 954-762-9488; Admission is free. All ages.

Jill Scott

Philly's Jill Scott isn't after "Fools Gold" — she wants The Real Thing. And this week, the soul and R&B songstress will be searching for it at the Hard Rock Live in Hollywood.

With BJ the Chicago Kid. Saturday, August 8, 8 p.m. Hard Rock Live, 1 Seminole Way, Hollywood; 954-797-5531; Tickets cost $55 to $85 plus fees via

Rogue Theory Band

Rogue Theory Band may incorporate the violin into "clever and vibrant covers of pop music" that range from "Dave Matthews Band to Santana to Wiz Khalifa to Sublime." But, as pointed out in a recent New Times article: "Instead of playing straight [covers], Rogue Theory rearranges the compositions and hits audiences with something unexpected." Experience the “circus of music" for yourself at the Hurricane Bar and Lounge.

Saturday, August 8, 10 p.m. The Hurricane Bar and Lounge, 640-7 E. Atlantic Ave., Delray Beach; 561-278-0282;
