Funcrusher Lives Up to Promise of Busy 2012

Funcrusher Lives Up to Promise of Busy 2012

"So much planned for 2012, my head is going to explode!" That's how Greg Einhorn, the affable frontman for summery Lake Worth outfit Funcrusher, opened up the year on his band's Facebook page

Remembering that earnest and combustive 2012 proclamation, we took a cursory glance at Funcrusher's page to see how the first quarter of the year was treating the rousing young band. We noted a few shows Funcrusher played this year. A performance at the venerable Little Haiti music hub Sweat Records stood out (check out the group's uplifting and brooding performance of "You're An Avalanche" after the jump), and then there was the promise of a debut EP due out on March 10.

Since the drop date is right around the corner, we tracked down Mr. Einhorn to see where his troupe was in completing said debut.

"We have been busy in the studio recording our debut five song EP, and are currently wrapping up the last three tracks in our warehouse studio with our new keyboardist and producer Efren Molina," Einhorn told us. The release date has been pushed back somewhat, and the group expects to be releasing the eponymous debut record in late April.

Einhorn went on to tell us that after completing the album, his group will be embarking on its first "full tour of Florida" to promote the EP.

"We are also going to be shooting two music videos for the EP and have a possible 7" coming out on an undisclosed label," added Einhorn. He wasn't trying to be coy, Einhorn simply couldn't tell us any more details about the 7" record deal because his band is still finalizing the particulars.

As it turns out, the Funcrusher boys have had a brisk year, so far, and are assiduously putting the final touches on their long awaited album. They continue their hard work this Saturday with a performance at the Speakeasy Lounge in Lake Worth. Funcrusher, with their whimsical psychedelic pop with Brit pop nuances, will be joined by witch house idolizers Symbols and Ribbon Dancer, a relatively newer outfit that's a confluence of chiming guitars, way-out synths and snare bashes.

As promised here is little preview of Funcrusher performing a rousing rendition of "You're An Avalanche," a track, Einhorn says, that will be found on his group's forthcoming EP.
