Get Your Guns
L.A. Guns frontmen come and go like participants in a gang-bang. After longtime vocalist Phil Lewis left the group in the mid-'90s, Chris Van Dahl stepped in to handle microphone duty. Then came Ralph Saenz. Then Jizzy Pearl. And then, at the start of the new millennium, the Guns went back to square one, re-recruiting Lewis. Now, in a prolonged game of musical band members, band founder and lead guitarist Tracii Guns is out, replaced by some dude named Stacey Blades. Clever. But even without the band's namesake, the Guns have kept quite busy lately, with the release of 2005's Tales From the Strip, which sees the band pretty much where it was in the mid-'80s cranking out raw, raunchified glam-metal. But unlike many of their aging peers, who've been relegated to the county fair circuit, the Guns still have enough bang to hit up an actual music venue.
L.A. Guns join Fillmore Slim on Saturday, May 19, at Revolution, 200 W. Broward Blvd., Fort Lauderdale. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $16 to $18. Call 954-727-0950, or visit www.jointherevolution.net.
