Growing Old with Uncle Al

The Old Gray Al, he ain't what he used to be. While many a desperate rock critic has declared Ministry's 2003 release Animiositisomnia as a return to form for industrial mavens Al Jourgensen and Paul Barker, one listen reveals the opposite is true. Instead of the chemical-inspired madness found on A Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Taste or Psalm 69, the generic metal found on their latest piece of plastic is the musical equivalent of a party at your Narcotics Anonymous sponsor. It may go all night, but it'll be deadly dull. Thankfully, Al and Paul realize this. They know you're not going to pay $25 to hear an hour of 21st-century sobriety. Rest assured that your ex-college girlfriend is going to show up wearing leather pants. Know she'll accidentally wind up in the pit during "Stigmata." You will save her from being crushed by big bad bald people. You'll get laid in gratitude. But be careful -- you don't know where she's been for the past ten years. Ministry performs at 9 p.m. Friday, May 16, at Club Ovation, 3637 S. Federal Hwy., Boynton Beach. Tickets cost $26. Call 561-740-7076.
