In Country

Flying under the hippie-esque banner of "Yeehaw! Love Everyone!," "Big" Kenny Alphin and John Rich -- the singer/songerwriter/production duo that goes by the all-American moniker Big & Rich -- has blazed a trail into uncharted country music territory. Hanging with a gaggle of hard-partying yokels known as the Muzik Mafia, these sons of the newly flourishing Nashville scene drive way beyond tired country cliché and into pop-country superstardom with elements of bluegrass, classic country western, honky-tonk, punk rock, arena rock, and hip-hop. Chances are you've heard instantly likable tracks like "Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)" or "Rollin'" -- the latter featuring Cowboy Troy, a 250-pound, six-foot-five black cowboy who breaks it down, hick-hop style, in three different languages (really). Mullets and belt buckles as big as your head may rule the crowd, but when these guys run for the presidential ticket in 2012, you can say you were there when.

Big & Rich performs with Brooks & Dunn, Cowboy Troy, and the Warren Brothers as part of the Deuces Wild Tour at 7 p.m. Sunday, October 30, at Sound Advice Amphitheatre, 601-7 Sansbury's Way, West Palm Beach. Reserved tickets cost $53.75; lawn tickets cost $29. Call 561-795-8883.
