Here are Kenny Garrett's credentials: At the gentle age of 18, he was part of Duke Ellington's Orchestra (then led by son Mercer Ellington); at 21, he was gigging with Mel Lewis' Orchestra; and by age 24, he had produced his first solo recorded effort. He's shared the stage with Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Pharoah Sanders, etc... A talented and accomplished saxophonist and flutist, Garrett has only continued to grow and evolve since his tender days. With more than a dozen albums under his belt and thousands of performances, Garrett imbues his post-bop jazz with elements of classical, gospel, and soul as well as picking up nuances of music through his travels. A genius at subtlety, Garrett's music is of the high order in the jazz world, and he's young enough to continue a journey of exploration and refinement. A true student of the genre, an excellent performer, a classy man all around: This promises to be an incredible show.
