Hey, geniuses. This is perhaps your final reminder. Although it's going to be a very busy weekend of finding the right Nicki Minaj wig or sculpting the best papier-mâché spike to drive through your stomach, take a few minutes to grab a wad of cash. We've mentioned the MasterMind Awards before.

The main thing to note: Four local artists of ANY discipline will each win $1,000 (and get like a billion bucks' worth of local cred). Plus, that's a lot of ramen noodles, or speaker cable, or spray paint, or unpaid parking tickets.

The catch: You actually have to be somewhat good -- or, likely, extremely good -- at whatever your artistic pursuit is. This is for Broward and Palm Beach County folks only, but a similar contest happens in Miami, so don't fret. Salient deets below.

Winners will be chosen by a panel of experts and announced at our annual Artopia event in January 2011. We'll announce the actual date soon.

To apply, please send us:

  • A short bio and/or description of the work.
  • A

way to view the artwork. You can either submit a link to an artist's

website (this is easiest); email images to us; or send in actual

artwork by snail mail (choose this method at your own risk; New Times is

not responsible if artwork gets damaged or lost.)

  • Contact information -- phone number, email

    address, home address.
