The past six years have been pretty damned good to Ayme Sanchez. In 2000, the Davie-based singer/songwriter bested nearly 1,000 other contestants to win Y-100's "Big Break Contest." A year later, Sanchez scored a demo contract with producer Emilio Estefan (that's Este-fan, not Este-vez; you know, Gloria's husband). In June 2005, Sanchez won yet another contest, awarded Vocalist of the Month by SingerUniverse. And when word of her talents reached noted soul singer Betty Wright (a vocal coach on Diddy's Making of the Band), Sanchez became part of Wright's songwriting and publishing project. It's with that favorable backdrop that Sanchez drops her new album, Wonderland — a broad mix of funk-flavored beats, rockin' riffage, feisty vocals, and loads of melody. So what's next for Sanchez? Well, if her current collaborations offer any hint of what's to come (read: big-wig producers), this singer's universe may just be a rock 'n' roll Wonderland.

Ayme Sanchez holds a CD-release show at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 6, at O'Hara's Jazz Café & Swing Street Bistro, 1903 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood. Admission is free. Call 954-925-2555.
