Alright, nobody really believed that Phish would stay away forever after their "final" concert in 2004. The only thing surprising about the beyond-jam-band gods' reunion last year is that, perhaps, it didn't come sooner. And they must really like Miami, even though Miami itself hasn't been too kind to the traveling festival crowd (see: the disastrous cancellation of the camping-free Langerado earlier this year.) Phish has celebrated New Year's Eve here in the past, with a four-night run at American Airlines Arena in 2003.

And while rumors had been passed over the Internet that the band would do the same this year, they confirmed it for real, for real yesterday. Phish will play four consecutive shows here, again at the American Airlines Arena, starting December 28 and ending, of course, on December 31.

You can bet these tickets are going to go FAST, so act now. Currently, the "online ticket request period" is going until 11:59 p.m. this Sunday, November 15 -- visit http://phish.portals.musictoday.com to sign up. There is a lengthy explanation of how it works there, but basically you can reserve a request to buy up to four tickets for show (or two special taper tickets if you're planning to tape it). Proof that Phish is awesome to its fans: General admission tickets are just $50 before fees for the first three shows, $60 for the NYE gig. That'll make it one of the cheapest parties in town that night.

These requests will be filled first, and then general admission tickets will go on sale through Ticketmaster on Saturday, November 21 at 10 a.m.

What's most amazing to think of is New Year's Eve itself, when there will be a strange but amazing confluence in downtown Miami of the usual club-heads, Lady Gaga fans, and Phish followers.
