In support of recent reissues of their first three records, the Psychedelic Furs have embarked on a U.S. tour, effectively preempting any chance of a surprise episode of Bands Reunited. I'm sure we all wanted to see the cameras sneak up on Richard Butler as he mowed his lawn in boxers, operated heavy machinery on a construction site, or even sat in his million-dollar London flat practicing his turntable scratch techniques. But it's still good news for Furs fans who have been waiting patiently in pink for their favorite new wave history lesson to hit town.
Brothers Richard and Tim Butler and the rest of the original lineup are crisscrossing America, no doubt playing "President Gas" with a smirk. Watch a John Hughes movie before the show, then listen to a mix tape you made in 1986 on the drive there. And please remember -- the fat comb goes in the left pocket of your parachute pants. We all know what a comb in the right pocket means. -- Jon Wilkins
