The notion of a white reggae band from the California coast may conjure memories of Sublime, but Santa Barbara's Rebelution plays it far straighter than its genre-blending forebears. The band's brand of reggae has cleaner upstrokes and tighter corners than dub, and leader Eric Rachmany's guitar solos show traces of heavy metal and Santanaesque groove-rock alongside reggae's steady syncopations. This Revolution show is part of a gathering of like-minded bands called the Winter Greens Tour (and those greens have nothing to do with spruce trees or vegetables, if you follow).
