As one half of the '90s hip-hop duo Organized Konfusion, Pharoahe Monch took off on his own in 1999, with the release of Internal Affairs. But that was seven years ago how much longer do fans have to wait for the Queens-based MC to drop his next full-length? Well, is November 28 too long? That's when his latest disc, Desire, is scheduled to hit the stores. Sure, it's been a while. But that's not to say Monch hasn't kept busy on the singles front. He's already released a track from Desire (the soulfully laid-back "Push"), as well as a number on J Dilla's The Shining ("Love"). Of course, Monch's most listened-to song of late is undoubtedly "The Future," his contribution to Diddy's just-released album, Press Play. Maybe you've heard of it.
Pharoahe Monch joins Dynas and DJs Maseo and Stevie D Saturday, November 4, at Revolution, 200 W. Broward Blvd., Fort Lauderdale. Doors open at 11 p.m. Tickets cost $20. Call 954-727-0950, or visit www.jointherevolution.net.
