Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band

One of two surviving members of the Fab Four, the former Richard Starkey has become a global music legend, mainly because the entire world knows him as Ringo Starr. Within the Beatles, he was relegated to a mostly supporting part, taking the spotlight for the occasional vocal, some comic relief, and a cursory drum solo on Abbey Road. Nevertheless, his reliable rhythms still find other drummers expressing their admiration. History records that he was the first Beatle to release a solo album (appropriately, Sentimental Journey), and while he was thought least likely to top the charts, an ample supply of solo hits after the band's breakup proved the pundits wrong. In fact, his Ringo album provided the closest thing to a Beatles reunion, thanks to Paul, John, and George's eager contributions. Sadly, subsequent outings weren't nearly as memorable, and the occasional acting role notwithstanding, Ringo's later career was marred by excess, indulgence, and partying with his pals. For the past 20 years, he's found success helming an ongoing nostalgia show via his All Starr Band, comprised of other name players bearing retro credentials and faded fame. Ringo's recent album, Liverpool 8, attempted to regain musical cred, but no matter. The Beatles branding will always give this Starr reason to shine.
