Congratulations, De La Soul -- you're the proud parents of a pair of bouncing baby bands! Surprising, since you're from Long Island and both of your offspring hail from Atlanta. But hey, the four-man Minamina Goodsong follows in your footsteps, adding infectiously funky beats to soulful smarts and hot-potato lyrical volleys. Psyche Origami, your other niño, sports an unusual four-turntable, two-DJ lineup and is fronted by a quick-tongued rapper not far from the venerable Posdnuos in his enunciated delivery. Then there are the distant cousins: Tampa crew Science Nonfiction, Miami's Earthworx, and local heroes Secondhand Outfit. Conscious, backpacker, true-school -- they call it many things, but you and I know that it's nothing but hip-hop.

Minamina Goodsong, Psyche Origami, and others play at 10 p.m. Friday, April 15, at Club M, 2037 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood. Free. Call 954-925-8396.
