Sometimes hype is a good thing. Sure, you get stray Vines. Or you may get stuck with one-trick Strokes. But the retro "Return to Rock" frenzy of 2002 brought the White Stripes to the forefront of pop culture, and for that, we should be forever grateful. In every record store that Best Buy hasn't driven out of business, there's a fast-moving jewel-boxed stack of the White Stripes' four-album catalog. On every music video channel that's still allowed to show music videos, there's a Willy Wonka-color-schemed acid trip courtesy of the group, which makes bluesy psych-rock for art school kids and their parents. There isn't a soul alive who can help singing along to "You're Pretty Good Looking (For a Girl)" from Jack and Meg White's newest album, Elephant. The White Stripes and Whirlwind Heat play at 8 p.m. Thursday, June 19, at Mizner Park Amphitheater, 433 Plaza Real, Boca Raton, 561-962-4106
