With their recent underwater video for "Sink or Swim," Fort Lauderdale indie quartet -kids- proved that it doesn't even need to feel gravity to jam hard. The bearded act has a powerful synergy that is palpable, even while its furry faces are submerged in a pool. With their newly released EP, Sink or Swim, expect a honest approach to music and lyrics. Theirs is a subtle rebellion against radio pop and an attempt to keep music honest.

9. "Party at Gatsby's" 1920s Theme Party at Green Room

With the recent reincarnation of Scott Fitzgerald's classic on the big screen, The Great Gatsby has been popping up everywhere. And Fort Lauderdale's Green Room is no exception.

With the secret password "Gatsby's," you get in with no cover. In addition to partying it up 1920s style for free, you can see art displays and burlesque performers while drinking champagne at no cost if you are in Gatsby attire. Not to mention, there's also coffee by Yoni Martin along with vendors and music by DJ Tonx and Jet Decklin. There hasn't been a party like this in decades. And that is something to celebrate, old sport.

8. The Catskills Comedy Club Presents Damien Figler's Rock N' Comedy

Think of a rock star impregnating a comedian and BOOM! Thus is birthed Rock N' Comedy at the Catskills Comedy Club. Live music by Space Between Words, Joysticks, and Quarter Slots will accompany comedic talents from Kevin Javier, Rj Walker, and headliners Kevin Perry and Michael Panzeca. The show is also hosted by a real bastard. No, really, "The Bastard Son of Broward County" Damien Figler will be hosting alongside Darlene Blaspheme.

7. Bike Night at Sample Road Tavern

Rev up the bikes and prepare your livers. This Friday, there are plenty of drink specials at Sample Road Tavern to keep you occupied. Also, there's music from bands like Big Whiskey & The Opium Kings, Distilled Chaos, and Fireline. The party starts early evening at 7 p.m., and keeps powering on till 4 a.m. This bike night takes place every last Friday of the month.

6. The Shin Dig debut at O'Shea's Irish Pub on Clematis

What better venue to host 14 kick ass local bands than a place called the Devil's Whorehouse? Are the devil's whore's cute? How does that work?
