Tonight, Friday, May 29
*The Mission Veo is one of the best local dark, post-punk-type acts going, and tonight they play at one of the most fun, no-bullshit weekly dance parties: Fridays at the Vagabond. If you show up before midnight, admission is free; otherwise it's $5. There are also drink specials for the earlybirds. Click here to get full details and a free Mission Veo MP3.
*On the swankier side of hipster nightlife, there's always Misfit Fridays at Louis, in the Gansevoort South on Miami Beach, which features the latest in electro-house and other blog-friendly sounds. Admission is free, technically, but the door here is notorious, so get your game right if this is your thing. Click here for full details.

is probably the most visible female MC in local underground hip-hop
circles, and she's dedicated to bringing females back to the culture.
She's also dedicated to good times, good rhymes and heavy rhythms in
general, and as such she's hosting her reggae-heavy Electric Mothership Cruise
this Saturday to celebrate the release of her new album. The acoustic
performance and listening party from 9 to midnight is just $10 at the Tikki Beach Boat in Miami beach. Click here for full details.
Sunday, May 31
*The School of Rock
wasn't just a clever Jack Black premise; it's actually now a national
franchise of rock music schools in 60 U.S. cities. The coolest thing
for its attendees is that the school books frequent shows for its
student bands. The latest is this Sunday at the Gibson Guitar showroom in Miami, for $7.
If you're a guitar geek, beyond the music, that low admission price is
worth it for a chance to gawk at the rare Les Pauls and SGs on display.
