Deerfield's alt.reggae band the Resolvers is playing Propaganda in Lake Worth tonight. (For a taste of what this is like, check out a recent review of its opening slot for the Wailers.) The alt.reggae genre is something the Resolvers put on themselves and has a connotation that brings Sublime to mind. These guys are not Sublime. They have a more traditional reggae rhythm and horn section, with a very blues-rock guitar feel. It's not reggae-rock -- that brings 311 to mind.

Put simply, the Resolvers sound as if the Eric Clapton who covered Bob Marley's "I Shot the Sheriff" joined the Wailers as lead guitarist. Throw in some of the vocal group Ladysmith Black Mambazo from Paul Simon's Graceland album for that world-music vibe.

Even though they are an 11-piece band, their sound is very focused,

tight, and full of soul. Take a listen to them performing their song

"Itchy Mind" when they opened for the Original Wailers this past May. Close

your eyes, smoke something, get your mind right. Then, if you can make

it off the sandy beaches of your couch, head over to Lake Worth for the

real thing.

The Resolvers, Spread the Dub, and Natural State perform live tonight at Propaganda, 6 S. J St., Lake Worth. Doors open at 8 p.m.
