Allen West Blames Another Bush Policy He Doesn't Like on President Obama
Rep. Allen West likes to play the blame game quite often, and sometimes, he'll let the facts stay at home.
This time around, West explained how he's "very concerned" about President Obama's announcement that American troops in Iraq will be brought home before the end of the year, saying it was another "campaigner-in-chief decision."
Again, the basis of West's argument was to place blame on President Obama for a policy that came from the administration of former President George W. Bush.
Just as West has said multiple times during his term as congressman that TARP was a policy of the Obama administration, he's now saying that the withdrawal of troops from Iraq at the end of the year was also an Obama policy.
As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, West really ought to know where these policies come from.
West's first concern with the "Obama" policy on Iraq -- "The number-one thing is, we should have been able to negotiate a Status of Forces Agreement, which would have protected our men and women in uniform over there."
Well, the U.S. did negotiate a Status of Forces Agreement, which was agreed to on November 17, 2008:
As you can see at the top of page 20, "All the United States Forces shall withdraw from all Iraqi territory no later than December 31, 2011."
But, of course, there's always West's interpretation of events:
When the President made the announcement the first he started off with was saying he's keeping his campaign promise so I don't want to see this be a campaigner-in-chief decision as opposed to a commander-in-chief decision... I think that this is once again an instance of him trying to shore up that liberal base, that left-wing base, as he gets ready to head into an election-cycle year.
Here's the video of West's interview -- which touches on several current events -- with his views on "Obama's" policy at the beginning:
