Edward Morton heard a knock on his door at around 10 p.m. Tuesday evening. When Morton answered the door, someone shot him in the face, and ran off.
Boynton Beach Police say Morton, 27, was taken to Delray Medical Center where he died.
According to Boynton Beach Police, a man described as a black male wearing all black clothing, went up to Morton's home, located at 420 NW 3rd Avenue, knocked on the door, and shot Morton when he opened the door. Police say he fled after firing the gun.
"At this point, we do not believe the suspect took anything," Boynton Beach Police spokesperson Stephanie Slater tells New Times. "Detectives have been in interviews and following up on leads all morning."
Police have been searching the area for clues that could lead them to the suspect since Tuesday night.
