A standoff Tuesday afternoon with a suicidal man ended with his being gunned down by Palm Beach Sheriff's deputies. PBSO has just released the man's name: Robert Mathew Geiserman, 69.

The initial call occurred around 3 p.m., and several hours of negotiation did nothing to change the mind of the man threatening suicide. Around 10 p.m., the man walked into his backyard and made eye contact with a SWAT team member. From the PBSO release:

The SWAT team member shouted verbal commands numerous times to the subject "let me see your hands". The subject raised his weapon at the SWAT team member and the SWAT team member fired striking the subject. The subject was pronounced dead on scene.
