Dwyane Wade's Ex-Wife Wants Forgiveness, Also Wants the Kids Back
Dwyane Wade's ex-wife and mother of his two sons, Siohvaughn Funches, appeared on a Chicago news station asking for forgiveness. She also stated she'd still like to get her sons back.
Last week, Funches had something of a meltdown in the middle of downtown Chicago.
People took pictures of Funches sitting on the ground and holding a sign that reads, "NBA MIAMI HEAT STAR MOTHER OF HIS CHILDREN ON THE STREETS."
But Wade's attorney, Jim Pritkin, said in a statement that Wade and his ex had already reached a pretty generous settlement, negating any message about her being "on the streets."
According to Pritkin, an agreement to have Wade provide his ex with $25,000 a month was reached on July 16, days before Funches had her erratic sign-carrying tantrum in Chicago.
"Dwyane Wade has made several requests over the years to settle this matter, despite Ms. Funches having 16 different attorneys and 2 arrests throughout this process," the statement reads. "Mr. Wade has provided a very generous settlement to Ms. Funches to continue to live a wonderful lifestyle for the rest of her life."
The ABC affiliate in Chicago caught up with Funches, where she told them, "I do believe in forgiveness. I do believe that all of us have made mistakes. And I need for people to forgive me."
Funches went on to say, "It was not easy. And it didn't happen overnight. But I forgave him, and I'm healed."
But just as this thing looks like it's about to end smoothly, Funches seems to take a backhanded approach to wanting her children back.
"I absolutely do want my children to be at home with me. In a loving home where I can raise them, and where they can spend time with their dad, when he's actually available."
ABC Chicago goes on to say that Wade and his attorney had no comment on Funches' comments.
She also told the station she plans to go back to court to get her kids back.
In 2011, Dwyane Wade was awarded sole custody of his and Funches' two sons, Zion and Zaire.
