Eggelletion Sentence: Two-and-a-Half Years
That does it for the political career of Josephus Eggelletion. Sounds like a sad, pathetic scene at the federal courthouse in West Palm Beach. One tear-choked quote:
"What I did was wrong. I'm not trying to hide from it. I'm not trying to run from it."
Just to correct the historical record, yes, Eggelletion absolutely did try to hide from it. That's why he was so careful about talking to his collaborators and laundering the dirty money. It was only the latest, most damning allegation of misconduct by a Broward politician who had very obviously gone crooked a long time ago and was going to stay on that course for as long as he was in a position to violate the public trust. He ran. He hid. Until, finally, he got caught.
