Richard "Rick" Lemack was this close (642 votes) to becoming the Democratic nominee for Broward Sheriff. In August 2008, the ex-assistant police chief and assistant city manager of Hollywood, Lemack lost to Scott Israel, who then lost to Al Lamberti.
