Scary reports from both Broward and Palm Beach counties today involving kids with access to firearms. Broward Sheriff's Office deputies just arrested three suspects -- including two 13-year-olds -- in the disappearance of five guns in Lauderdale Lakes. Meanwhile, in Boca Raton, police have arrested a 16-year-old for firing an AK-47.
In that Lauderdale Lakes case, deputies have recovered just one of the five missing guns. It seems that the suspects found the guns in homes they burglarized. If so, then the residents of those homes didn't have their guns locked in a safe. Now those same guns can be used for muggings and murders. Let's hope BSO has some means to keep those irresponsible gun-owners from buying new guns to replace the ones that were stolen.
