UPDATE, 4/2: The police report has more details of how Ayers got busted. Hint: Police say he just went around telling people about it.

Police say 32-year-old James Ayers called a friend Wednesday and said he killed a woman named Julie on March 23. The friend turned him in.

Fort Lauderdale Police then arrested Ayers, who was in Plantation at the West Broward Care Center, a rehab facility. Fort Lauderdale Police spokesman Det. Travis Mandell said he couldn't disclose what Ayers was doing there.

Unsurprisingly, the Broward Sheriff's Office also showed up at Ayers' Fort Lauderdale home -- and found the body of a 19-year-old New Jersey woman, Juliana Mensch. Mandell said that Mensch was an "acquaintance" of Ayers' but that the motives behind her killing were still being investigated. He did say Mensch wasn't in Fort Lauderdale for spring break.

He also said he was not sure what the rest of Ayers' gnarly chest tattoo says.

If you have any information, police are asking you to call Det. Mark Shotwell at 954-828-5517 or Det. James Jaggers at 954-828-5970.
