Joe Rogan's Thoughts On South Florida
In case you're unfamiliar with "The Joe Rogan Experience" -- the two-ish hour, every-so-often podcast -- the premise is fairly simple.
Take Joe Rogan -- the comedian, Ultimate Fighting Championship color commentator, former "Fear Factor" host, "The Man Show" and "NewsRadio" co-star -- add a friend or two and some weed, and let the ranting ensue.
In an episode a week ago, alongside producer Brian Redban and New Jersey comedian Joey Diaz, a talk about federal drug enforcement laws went into Rogan explaining how marijuana laws are enforced in Palm Beach County.
Rogan was talking about the school district police department's "Operation D-Minus," which included cops pretending to be high school kids buying weed from students.
"It's high school, and they're smokin' weed," he says. "That's all you're arresting them for? Look, if you're arresting them for undercover murder-for-hire plots and they're planning on knocking over banks and shit when they get out of high school, yeah, bust them for that. It's just pot."
Then, Rogan has his epiphany: "Our tax dollars went for a woman to pretend that she was in high school so she could find out who's got the weed."
Diaz inserts his line, saying from West Palm to Miami is a troublesome drug area. That leads Rogan to describe the inside of a Broward County "pill mill."
"There's all these people jonesin' and walking back-and-forth like zombies, and they're sitting there smoking cigarettes, sitting in front of the place waiting for it to open," he says. "It's fucking nuts man."
The conversation drifts off -- as it always does -- but the point remains, Rogan maintains a fairly accurate stoned view of South Florida.
