Don't bring a knife to a gun fight. And if you're in a congressional fight that will be decided by moderate voters, you don't bring a polarizer like Sarah Palin. Nor do you want her witchcraft-dabbling protege, Christine O'Donnell.
A missive today from the Ron Klein reelection campaign name-drops both Palin in O'Donnell. The former Alaska governor gave West an endorsement last summer, an honor he shares with O'Donnell, the New Jersey Delaware Senate candidate who's become a saucy topic on political blogs.
But Klein's campaign points out that O'Donnell and West have other things in common, like a history of personal financial trouble.
Both West and O'Donnell had $11,000 tax liens, according to Klein campaign spokeswoman Sarah Rothschild. From the Klein mailer:
"In addition to West and O'Donnell being linked by their financial irresponsibility, they share another bond: They are two peas in Sarah Palin's pod and a match made in heaven," Klein campaign spokeswoman Sarah Rothschild said. "The question remains whether West will come clean with South Florida voters and explain why he lectures voters on financial responsibility but does not live up to his end of the promise?"
I'm not sold on the "peas in the pod" bit. Since Palin likes to call herself a Mama Grizzly, can't we say that O'Donnell and West are like her two cubs?
