Miami Beach police arrested LeBron James' mother, Gloria James, early this morning at the Fontainebleau hotel on charges of simple battery and disorderly intoxication.

According to the arrest report, shortly before 5 a.m., James belligerently argued with a valet worker and then slapped him across the right side of his face. Police said her eyes were bloodshot and her breath smelled like alcohol.

Several reports say that she was partying at Liv nightclub before the incident. People magazine reports that James swung her purse at the valet worker but missed and then slapped him. She was held briefly in police custody but has since been released.

James was also arrested and charged with DWI in 2006 in Ohio but was not driving at the time of the incident Thursday morning.

Wednesday night, LeBron James led the Miami Heat with 29 points in its 90-85 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks.
