Considering that in recent years he was rarely seen outdoors without a parasol, maybe Michael Jackson was afraid of getting sunburn? Whatever the case, this list of Michael Jackson concerts dating to the early Eighties doesn't include a single one in South Florida only includes two South Florida stops dating back to November 1984 at Miami's Orange Bowl as part of his Victory Tour.

Nor did Jackson seem interested in living here, even after creditors chased him out of the Neverland ranch in Southern California. The Shiny Sheet seems downright offended that the King of Pop didn't buy himself a mansion in Palm Beach. But the paper notes that Jackson at least visited the Island, as recently as 2003.

He toured the $45 million Marden estate in December 2002, but reportedly found the 17,000-square-foot Georgian-style mansion too small for his taste and needs. In February 2003, he signed autographs on Worth Avenue and popped into Sprinkles on Royal Poinciana Way for fat-free vanilla yogurt. In April that year he was back on Worth Avenue, visiting several shops and galleries.
Over on our music blog Crossfade, there's a handy round-up of the less hysterical coverage of Jackson's death and analysis of his place in pop music history.
