The weekend is finally here! Aww yeah... Time to get out there and unwind. Also time to get your drink on. Only, don't get your drink on and then get behind the wheel of a car. Because that would be dumb.

Not only could you cause a tragedy for yourself and others but you could also get busted. Tonight the Miramar Police are conducting a DUI checkpoint along the intersection of Miramar Parkway and South University Drive to catch any of you who decide to do that dumb thing.

With the help of BSO as well as Pembroke Pines Police, Hollywood Police, and law enforcement agencies from Hollywood and Sunrise, Miramar cops will be stationing themselves in the parking lot of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, located at 8005 Miramar Parkway.

From there, they'll be monitoring the intersection where Miramar Parkway meets South University Drive, looking for impaired drivers and throwing anyone found driving while intoxicated in the slammer.

Miramar DUI checkpoint runs from 9 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of Miramar Parkway and South University Drive. Officers will be stationed at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, located at 8005 Miramar Parkway

The checkpoint begins Friday night at 9 p.m. and runs until the wee hours of Saturday 3 a.m.

So if you're going out tonight to get the weekend rolling, that's cool. But if you must drink, get someone sober to drive, or call yourself a cab.

Have fun. Be safe. And be smart.

Coming back to work on Monday will suck. But at least you'll be alive.
