Morning Juice: Heath Miller's Womanizing Ways; Deal for Rothstein's Confidant

Let's see what's in today's local media:

  • Two teachers will be fired today by the Palm Beach County School District for having sex with former band teacher Heath Miller on school grounds. One of those two women says that Miller raped her, but the district finds that claim unconvincing, since the woman didn't file a complaint. [Palm Beach Post]
  • Scott Rothstein confidant and money manager Debra Villegas is nearing a plea deal with federal prosecutors in which she'll serve less than ten years in exchange for testimony against others at the Fort Lauderdale firm and business community who had a role in the Ponzi scheme. [CBS4]
  • Last night, Charlie Crist gave his final State of the State speech, an excellent occasion to reflect upon his very brief career as a "model" for a new breed of Republican. [St. Petersburg Times]
  • Shoppers at Village of Gulfstream in Hallandale Beach may be surprised to learn that it has added a fee to purchases. It's a "district improvement fee" to pay back a bond. It's 50 cents on every $100 to pay back a $35 million bond to cover the costs of improvements to the area. [WPLG-10]
  • At last night's meeting, the City of Lake Worth became the first Florida city to support the effort to repeal a ban on gay adoption. [Palm Beach Post]
  • Two accidents involving Broward Sheriff's Office cruisers in Pompano Beach in two days. Here's the deal, BSO: If there's another one today, I'll officially launch the conspiracy theory that deputies intend to keep crashing cruisers until they get a new contract with the city. [Miami Herald]
