Mother of Alex Collins, Star Plantation High Football Player, Ran Off With His Letter of Intent
Today is National Signing Day, the day when high school football stars declare which college they'll be attending.
One of those players is South Plantation High five-star running back Alex Collins, who earlier this week committed to attend Arkansas over closer-to-home University of Miami.
Turns out, at least one person wasn't too thrilled with that idea. And that person is Collins' mother, who reportedly confiscated his letter of intent and ran off with it because she didn't want him to leave South Florida (or maybe she's just a really big fan of the U?).
Moms are gonna Mom!
Earlier in the day, Collins was set to hold a signing ceremony around 11 a.m.
But he never showed up to his own ceremony. And that's when people started to wonder what's up.
Then, ESPN's Corey Long reported that Momma Collins was having none of this letter-of-intent stuff and took matters into her own hands.
"The papers are not there. I've been told by two different sources that Alex Collins' mom confiscated the papers and took off and ran with them. They are looking for her currently. From what I understand, Alex is not at the school right now; he is looking for his mom. She was quite torn up about him leaving."
We've all had moments in our lives when our mom embarrassed us. Unfortunately for Collins, it's happening before millions of college football fans and not in the parking lot of a Denny's in front of three or four of his friends, like it happened with you that one time in high school.
Fortunately for Collins and the Razorbacks, this doesn't change much. He's still expected to sign with Arkansas, according to CBSSports. It's just a matter of finding Alex's mom -- or, maybe just asking someone for a copy of the letter.
According to most scouts, Collins is considered the top all-purpose running back in the 2013 class. At 5-foot-11, 204-pounds he rushed for 2,915 yards and 38 touchdowns the past two seasons.
