Investigators are still trying to ID the woman discovered dead over the weekend in a part of west Delray Beach. As of now, the Palm Beach Sheriff Office isn't providing that many details about the crime — other than it's still stumped about who it's found. Foul play, however, does seem to be the cause of death.

According to the information that's leaked out, over the weekend a neighbor, was cruising along Smith Sundy Road around 9 a.m. Sunday when he or she came across the dead young woman.

This part of western Delray is almost an entirely different world from the chic beach town that likely comes to mind. The area — an unincorporated chunk of land — is sandwiched between 441 and the Florida Turnpike; it's overrun with vegetation, rural, and quiet. So, it's the perfect place to dump a body. Smith Sundy runs north-south, paralleling the major roadways.

PBSO says investigators immediately believed foul play was the cause of death. The victim was in her 20s and is either white or Hispanic. Other than that, police have yet to determine who the young woman may be. On Monday, the Palm Beach medical examiner planned to perform an autopsy to determine an official cause of death. Those details have not been made public, but check back with New Times for more information.

PBSO declined to provide any additional paperwork or reports involving the case. "The report is open and active," PSBO's Teri Barbera told New Times Monday in an email.

Earlier this year, Delray Beach saw the murder of 65-year-old Lucanes Joseph during an attempted robbery. The February shooting was later tied to the victim's 18-year-old stepgrandson and two friends.
