Just a few days after officially starting to "occupy" in Fort Lauderdale's Bubier Park, the protesters have already gotten the boot.

Although the group says the Downtown Development Authority initially gave it permission to set up camp in the park, the DDA decided to inform the protesters yesterday that it didn't mean all the time.

The DDA informed the group yesterday that it was going to close the park from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. and wouldn't allow tents or tarps to be set up in the park at any time.

"The mayor [Jack Seiler] gave us the thumbs-up for the occupation," organizer Adam Salater told the Pulp yesterday. "So did the chief of police [Frank Adderley], who said he was really impressed with us."

Apparently they aren't that impressed.

Either way, Occupy Fort Lauderdale has packed up and moved out, setting up shop -- at least temporarily -- at Equality Park in Wilton Manors.

The people from the Pride Center at Equality Park have apparently given the OK for the occupiers to do their thing, but there have been some complaints about the location -- it's not quite as visible as Bubier Park.

The group will still be holding its general assembly meetings every day in Equality Park, but it's still trying to get back to occupying Bubier Park.

The protesters are advocating that supporters phone over to the Fort Lauderdale Commission and the DDA, so we'll keep you updated if anything changes on that.
