A man in Pompano Beach was suspicious -- he was on his way to cash his paycheck July 5 at a store on NE 33rd Street, and he was pretty sure a short man in a blue Ford F-150 pickup was following him. At the store, he confronted the suspicious character -- he said he wasn't following anybody, just having car trouble. The (soon-to-be) suspect bought a quart of oil and drove off.

The (soon-to-be) victim left the store a few minutes later, with his almost-$1,000 paycheck in his pocket, in cash. He spotted the blue pickup truck broken down on the side of the road and pulled over to help -- at which point the pickup driver pulled a gun, took his money, and drove off, again.

The store was the Shop Smart Food Store at 680 NE 33rd St. in Pompano Beach; the alleged robbery happened around the intersection of NE Ninth Avenue and NE 33rd Street. The suspect was wearing the dark-blue shirt pictured and was about five-foot-four and bald. If you have any information, police ask you to call Broward Sheriff's Office Det. Trevor Goodwin at 954-321-4270 or Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
