Two-Sport Star Makes Career Choice: Netball!
Borrego's rumored team, the Adelaide Thunderbirds, in a game against the Melbourne Vixens.
Carla Borrego was a netball prodigy in Jamaica, but she left the sport and moved to Fort Lauderdale, where she tried to play a game similar to netball -- except with a backboard. That is, basketball. At 6-foot-4, she dominated the opposition at Broward Community College, leading to a berth on the Miami Hurricanes' roster, playing under hr maiden name, Williams.
She used up her eligibility last year, setting the stage for this dramatic rumor spreading like wildfire among netball fans in Australia: that Borrego was rejoining the Adelaide Thunderbirds.
After the jump, a highlight reel from a netball game at the Commonwealth Games. Damned if I can make much sense of this sport.
