The Armory Art Center is not just a gallery; its an artists retreat, a sort of West Point for the creative. Last year, two world-renowned artists, Suzanne Scherer and Pavel Ouporov, joined Armory as the 2-D Artists in Residence and taught a class on painting with egg tempera one of the oldest methods in art and not to be confused with tempura, a Japanese style of frying. The couple have permanent woks er, make that works at MOMA and the Library of Congress.
