Alfred the Great, Richard the Lionheart, and Henry VIII were some of the most memorable kings in history. And while they all reigned for many years, even they knew when it was time to call it quits. See what happens to one incompetent king who is not ready to make his exit in Eugene Ionesco’s Exit the King, playing Friday through April 28. This humorous play, performed by Palm Beach Dramaworks and directed by William Hayes, tells the story of 400-year-old King Berenger the First, played by Colin McPhillamy, who learns that he is dying and must give up control of his kingdom. When he refuses to accept his fate, mayhem ensues.
