The show will present dozens of adorable pieces of artwork crafted exclusively in highly-digestible, 8 x 8 portions. While you dig on the swatch-like samples from Helena Garcia (whose endearing characters share salutations through a tin-cans-and-thread phone), Anneli Olander (who adds a creepy, doll-like element), and Bil Betsovic (think: a more colorful version of Matt Groenings Life in Hell) among others, youll also be able to get your fill of the delectable offerings from the Purple Pie Company. Sweet!
The pie maker will be celebrating its official launch by doling out free samples of its signature apple and blueberry pies, each hand-crafted fresh to order from only natural ingredients by founder Alex Van Clief. A Miami native, Van Clief first delved into pie making when she was attending Syracuse University. When she returned to Miami in 2005, demand for her pies exploded. It got to the point where people were asking me for pies twice a week, she says. They became like currency, You make me dinner, Ill make you a pie. Now Van Clief will be trading her pies for actual currency, baking them exclusively on a per order basis, so they remain as fresh as possible. Currently, her delivery range is Miami and South Broward only, and customers should plan on ordering at least two days in advance of when they need their fix. The two sizes, large and personal, each come in a cute white box with a purple ribbon (and with purple forks). Order online www.purplepiecompany.com.
