The artistry behind gentlemen glammed up in sparkling gowns, four-foot wigs, and flamboyant makeup captures a gender-bending fantasy of sorts. But when diva Ricky Rollick and company intertwine the art of drag performance with portraying princesses and characters from traditional fairy tales, the Cinderella fantasy has just exploded into a dramatic night out of campy comedy and laugh-out-loud laughter. As Arts Garage presents its series Divas in Art on Friday, a core group of female impersonators led by Rollick will lip-synch and sing songs from Into the Woods as well as hits from classic fairy tales. Who better to perform a fairy tale than a drag queen? From previous performances, the divas are known to wander off stage to flirt with the audience and even invite guests to join them onstage for a dash of spontaneity. As a bonus, the Arts Garage is a BYOB establishment in which attendees can bring picnic baskets of food, beer, and wine, without any charge, to the show. The strutting and singing will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will carry on until the divas' feet hurt. Arts Garage is located at 180 NE First St. in Delray Beach. Call 561-450-6357, or visit artsgarage.org. Tickets cost $15 to $20 in advance, $20 to $25 the day of the event.
