Here’s a secret about lung disease: it’s afraid of heights. OK, maybe not, but after this Saturday’s inaugural Fight for Air Climb, it should be. The event is a benefit the American Lung Association of Florida, and puts participants in a race to the top of the 30-story 110 Tower (110 SE Sixth St., Fort Lauderdale). That’s 539 stairs — and there’s no taking the elevator. The climb starts at 8:30 a.m., so you’ll want to forego the Friday night beer run for a Saturday morning water binge. Of course, there’ll be plenty of H2O available during the climb, as well as other incentives for those braving the trek — like a T-shirt, food, a medal of recognition, a post-climb party, and best of all, an appreciation for healthy lungs once you reach the top.
