Don't get us started... don't even get us started on the stale and sad stereotypes of female improv comedians out there. (For anyone who got the vintage Molly Shannon reference -- high-fives forever.) Because as much as that old trope exists of the permanently-stuck-in-the-'80s, shoulder-pads-to-the-earlobes-wearing woman who is a Cathy cartoon come to life -- we could go on a rambling five-minute monologue just shouting out some of our favorite TV funny women who started out on the standup comedy circuit (Amy Schumer, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Chelsea Handler, Amy Sedaris, Aisha Tyler, Kristen Schaal, and on and on). On the local level, South Florida has a healthy showing of lady jokesters on the late-night improv stage. See them in action as Fort Lauderdale Hard Rock Improv (5700 Seminole Way, Fort Lauderdale) presents Some Ladies Live tonight. Self-described "If Ron White and Sam Kinison had a baby" comedian Bear Webb will be there as well as Lulu Braha, Talia Brahms, Michelle Solomon, and Pam Bruno. The entire night will be hosted by funny lady Irene Morales. Doors open 30 minutes before the show. Tickets cost $10 at the door. Call 954-981-5653, or visit improvftl.com.
